We combine proteomics and genomics, cell and molecular biology, patient-derived iPS cell culture and diseased animals to investigate the underlying mechanisms by which mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to impaired cellular metabolism, immune response and neurodegeneration. ​ We also use rationally designed peptide inhibitors of protein-protein interactions and high-throughput screening to develop "mitochondrial medicine" as a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
